Justice for Trayvon Martin

Hi BABE readers,

Zimmerman was found not guilty for the murder of 17 year old Trayvon Martin after a jury of six women acquitted Zimmerman of 2nd degree murder, and his other charge of manslaughter. The verdict illustrated that the jury believed Zimmerman reacted in a manner of self-defense and the reaction was necessary to save his own life against Martin. Martin was unarmed during the time of the event. Had Zimmerman been convicted, he could have faced up to life in prison.

However, the U.S. Department of Justice is now investigating the shooting death of Trayvon Martin and if he gets hit with federal charges, Zimmerman could face jail time, even with the not guilty verdict. The DOJ issued a statement saying they're looking into the evidence, including testimonies from the trial and will look to see if federal prosecutors should file criminal right charges against Zimmerman.

Therefore, Zimmerman may get jail time if they decide to press charges. There is still some hope for Justice.

President Obama releases a statement on George Zimmerman's not-guilty verdict, urging the nation to respect the juries decision:

"The death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy. Not just for his family, or for any one community, but for America. I know this case has elicited strong passions. And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher. But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken. I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son. And we do, we should ask ourselves if we're doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities. We should ask ourselves if we're doing all we can stem the tide of gun violence that claims too  many lives across this country on a daily basis. We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this. As citizens, that's a job for all of us. That's the way to honor Trayvon Martin.”

Paraphrasing President Obama stated violence is not the answer, it will only make things worse. Let's try to stick together as a nation for Justice for Trayvon Martin, the correct way!

  1. IN MEMORY OF TRAYVON:

A willful murderer got away with killing an innocent child.

The murderer has a history of violence, racial profiling & lying to law enforcement. He did not follow procedures of the community watch group or police & should not have had a gun under Florida law.

How nice it is to have a rich daddy who was a judge, a brother who is a lawyer, to have studied the inner workings of criminal "justice" & to live in a society that devalues the lives of some of its citizens.

This ensures that an admitted killer can get away with the willful slaughter of the innocent.

Trayvon Martin had the right to stand his ground against an aggressor & a gun-touting, self-appointed vigilante.

Now it's time to stand our ground for the memory of Trayvon.

Go to the NAACP web site & join the petition to bring civil rights charges against the murderer of an innocent lamb.

Be very clear how Trayon's civil rights were violated. Be very clear that Trayvon died & his murderer was set free because of racism.

Ask your self, would Trayvon be dead if he wasn't stereotyped as a Black teen wearing a hoodie?

Ask your self if those same White jurors would have issued the same verdict if it was their defenseless, 17yo child that died screaming for his life that night while clutching to a pack of candy.

The system of so-called "justice" in this society is broken & this is yet another case that proves it.

Good-hearted & fair minded people everywhere have a duty to help fix this broken system:

*Repeal the senseless Stand Your Ground laws.
*Vote for candidates that support strong gun-control legislation.
*Support groups & events that fight against gun violence.
*Divest from the NRA now, if you are a member.
*& join the petition to bring civil rights charges against Trayvon Martin's murderer (naacp.org/DOJ-petition).

Together we are stronger than they are!
